As part of a planned development, the Fifield Realty Corporation improved the park and donated it to the Chicago Park District. The project provided unique design challenges because two of the adjacent streets — Kinzie and DesPlaines avenues — are elevated. Landscape architects Ted Wolff and Associates created terraced levels to address the grade differential caused by the elevated streets. The design also includes a dog friendly area, a playground and a passive lawn area with shade trees. The park was completed in 2008.
